CO2 Market

CO2 is used in many production processes throughout both the food and drink supply chain and industry.  It is used widely in the food industry as a way of extending the shelf life of chilled products and in addition it has a significant use in the beverage industry as a carbonation source for both soft drinks and alcohol.

The vast majority of CO2 being "captured" for use in food and drink comes from the process of making fertilisers.  Fertiliser manufacture relies heavily on natural gas as a input, hence most CO2 produced today comes from a fossil fuel source and is beginning to be regarded as less environmentally friendly.
